Her versatility and range in her career as an artist is unparalleled. Audra has received the Tony Awards six times, as well as two Grammy Awards and one Emmy Award. Audra McDonald, who won the prestigious six Tony Awards in a row and two Grammy Awards in 2015 was recognized as one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people. McDonald is a native of California, born in Fresno California to a music family, completed her classical voice training at New York's Juilliard School. After graduating, she received her first Tony Award as Best Performance by an Featured Artist in musical at the Lincoln Center Theater for Carousel (1994). The following four years, she was awarded two more Tony Awards as a featured actor for her performances in Terrence Mcnally's Broadway debuts Master Class (1996) and Ragtime (1998). In the following years, she starred alongside Kathy Bates, Victor Garber and other actors in the highly acclaimed Disney/ABC remake of Annie in 1999, McDonald had an recurring role on the NBC show Law & Order Special Victims Unit. After receiving the first Emmy nomination in recognition of her role in the HBO film version of the Pulitzer Prize winning play Wit, directed by Mike Nichols and starring Emma Thompson McDonald returned to television networks in 2003 with the political drama Mister Sterling, produced by Emmy Award winner Lawrence O'Donnell Jr. and featuring Josh Brolin. The Bedford Diaries on the WB at the beginning of 2006, and Kidnapped, NBC. McDonald received an 4th Emmy nomination for her role in HBO's film special of Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill in the year 2016. The following year, McDonald starred with Taylor Schilling and Steven Pasquale in the film The Bite, a pandemic film produced by Spectrum Originals and CBS Studios. McDonald played U.S. prosecutor Liz Lawrence in the first episode of her role was seen on CBS's The Good Wife legal drama in the year 2009. She reprised this role in 2018as the season main character Liz Reddick in Paramount+'s The Good Fight. As a result of the role she played, McDonald received three Critics Choice Award nominations. She appears as a special guest for the HBO series The Gilded Age by Julian Fellowes.
